Sensei Dale Heidal
Sensei Dale was my first instructor in Isshinryu Karate. His class was held at the Civic Center in Vaughn Washington where I began my training at age 8. He also exposed me to Aikido which gave me the ability to fall, roll and a basic understanding to wrist locking. The softness of Aikido was also a good contrast to the forceful power of karate.
Thank You Sensei!
I was a weak, shy and emotional child, but Sensei Dale’s training helped turn me into a man. Over the 12+ years that I spent in his dojo I went from the being the timid kid who could barely touch his toes or do a push up to a halfway decent young karate man. That progression helped make me into the man I am today and I can never repay him for the gift that those experiences are to me.
Sensei Dale taught me to pay attention to detail and that no matter how precise you are you can always improve. His focus on the fine points of technique and repetition training gave me the tools to excel in all the other arts I have pursued.
