San Do Kuen Martial Arts
Stick & Knife
Although the United States is not a stick and blade culture, the Filipino martial arts focus on these tools for the development of martial arts technique. In most martial arts systems students learn empty hand techniques first and then progress to weapons. In arts like Arnis students learn weapons moves first and then progress to empty hand applications. The Stick & Knife path emphasizes simple and direct self defense techniques using 28″ rattan fighting stick, training knives of varying blade lengths and some basic staff work.
This path uses a 9 angle striking system and focuses on 4 main technique sets: Sinawali, Sumbrada, Punyo Rolling and Hubud. This course also includes and close range locking, trapping and pain compliance techniques.
